Berlin, June 10, 2026 – VÆRIDION, a 100% electric aircraft manufacturer, announced today major milestones in its development journey: the expansion of its order book commitments, the successful completion of its aircraft-level Preliminary Design Review (PDR) and the selection of General Atomics Aeronautical Systems (GA-ASI) as the first business partnership for its proprietary battery technology.

 

Growing commercial momentum of electric aviation

The company has now secured over 100 new Letters of Intent (LOIs) from 6 new customers comprising a mix of passenger and freighter aircraft. These commitments come from leading business and regional operators, a lessor, and an electric flight training provider across Germany, Denmark, Ireland, Czech Republic and the Netherlands, reinforcing market demand for VÆRIDION’s fully electric Microliner and further validating the business case for electric regional flight. These new orders build on Belgian ASL Group’s order of 10 aircraft, announced in June 2025.

As momentum continues to build, VÆRIDION is helping shape the roadmap for a new regional air transportation system. The new commitments from ABS Jets, Avanti Air, Copenhagen Helicopter, E-Flight Academy, an unnamed Irish entity and an undisclosed European lessor underscore growing confidence in the commercial viability of electric regional aviation and validate the Microliner’s versatility across passenger and cargo operations, pilot training, charter, and special-mission applications.

Beyond these initial operators, the commitments point to a much larger market opportunity: a pan-European regional air transportation system capable of reconnecting underserved communities, re-establishing regional routes and enabling entirely new point-to-point connections. In the EU alone, these markets represent more than 229 million annual passengers, positioning electric regional aircraft as a key enabler for future connectivity and sustainable economic growth. Backed by activities of VÆRIDION’s Market Advisory Committee and its growing ecosystem of operators, lessors, financiers and infrastructure partners, this opportunity is rapidly evolving from a future vision into a commercially viable new segment of regional aviation.

The commitments come at a time when the regional aviation sector is approaching a major fleet replacement cycle, raising maintenance cost and fuel dependency, with more than 21,000 regional, commuter, business aviation and light freighter aircraft currently in service.

Airborne Propulsion Battery System for Mission-Critical Defence Applications

Following the recent inauguration of its battery manufacturing facility and test house, VÆRIDION has reached another key milestone by securing General Atomics Aeronautical Systems as the first partnership for VÆRIDION’s proprietary airborne battery system technology.

“Our focus from day one has been on developing airworthy airborne battery packs as a key enabler of electric flight under strict rules of civil aircraft certification.  At the same time, we recognized that these battery packs have the potential to support a wide range of defence applications where high-power performance is mission-critical,” said Dennis Luyt, Chairman of the VÆRIDION Board and former Commander of the Royal Netherlands Air Force. “We expect to ship the first packs to OEM customers this year from our new Oberpfaffenhofen facility”.

A cornerstone of the company’s proprietary technology portfolio, VÆRIDION’s airborne battery pack is designed to deliver high-voltage, high-power for mission-critical applications. Built beyond the cell level, these high-power battery systems combine thermal management, mechanical protection, monitoring, and a comprehensive safety architecture, all engineered to meet the highest aviation certification standards.

Advancing toward Flight Testing and Certification

The successful completion of the PDR confirms the maturity of the Microliner’s architecture that delivers on the core value proposition: enabling efficient, zero-emission and economically viable regional air connectivity powered by fully electric propulsion. The milestone also marks a significant step in maturing the aircraft’s certification strategy and provides a solid foundation for the upcoming flight test campaign, with first flight targeted in less than 100 weeks.

With the PDR completed, VÆRIDION will deepen collaboration with strategic suppliers, certification authorities and industry partners as the programme advances toward Critical Design Review (CDR).
