The journey begins in style with an overnight stay in elegant Buenos Aires. The city of tango and Malbec sets a cosmopolitan tone before the adventure becomes increasingly raw and awe-inspiring. The following day, a private charter flight takes us to Ushuaia, often referred to as the southernmost city in the world. Here, we board one of Seabourn’s ultra-modern expedition vessels for an 11 (or 13)-day voyage to Antarctica.

Before long, civilisation fades behind us as the ship sets course for the legendary Drake Passage. Two to three days at sea offer the perfect transition, a moment to unwind, acclimatise and immerse ourselves in the world of ice, water and exploration.

After the crossing, the Antarctic Peninsula reveals itself in all its splendour. For five (or seven) days, we explore remote bays, iceberg-filled waters and untouched shores by Zodiac, where penguins go about their lives undisturbed. Colonies of gentoo penguins, curious fur seals, majestic humpback whales and even orcas glide through the water.
